From October 2022, the ICOC´s certificates will be disponible:

The International Commission for Orders of Chivalry (ICOC) (https://www.icocregister.com/) is a private association, based in Milan (Italy) composed of renowned scholars on chivalric matters and award systems and its main goal is to determine the legitimacy of the Orders of Chivalry by publishing the Register of Orders of Chivalry.

Those who are passioned about documentary science of history well know that every day, we witness the birth of supposed “former sovereign dynasties” and the use of “noble titles” without the obvious recognition of the State where they originate, by people who do not really know what the nobility was, not to mention the continuous birth of what are called orders of chivarly, for business purposes, which in historical reality have never existed.

Legitimate honors are part of the historical heritage and a right of a person, which as such must be protected. For this reason, the International Commission for Orders of Chivalry, at the Studium Academy of Casale and Monferrato for Art, Literature, History, Sciences and Various Humanities, in the rooms of the historic Filarmonica Academy, in the presence of the former Sovereign Houses of Europe, during the ceremonies for the 60th anniversary of its foundation, announced the partnership with Artvise for the creation of an exclusive service to certify through the blockchain technology the honors recognized as authentic. ICOC CERT boasts also the patronage of Historical Families of Italy, Historical Families of Europe, Real Asociación de Hidalgos de España, International Academy of Genealogy, Confédération Internationale de Généalogie et d’Héraldique.

What the Blockchain is? The Blockchain is a chain of blocks whose data structure is physiologically shared and is always immutable. This chain includes numerous items grouped into blocks which are in turn concatenated in a precise chronological order. The integrity of this order is guaranteed by the use of specific cryptographic techniques. Basically, the blockchain is like a digital register, based on a decentralized and non-modifiable database (the strength lies in being a community-based technology, therefore it does not depend on a single individual, but on hundreds of thousands of devices), of which no one has the rights to modify the data already entered. As the entered information into a smart contract are “notarized” in a digital form, this allows for a new way of certifying data.

In the case of ICOC-CERT, the certification takes place through asymmetric cryptography, notarized on the Bitcoin network with the OpenTimestamps protocol for the generation of a digital signature that is inserted in the QR code into the new issued certificates.

Moreover, it is possible to verify the Qr code trough the ICOC-CERT mobile app downloadable from:

Google Play and Apple Store

The new issued certificates will thus become the modern equivalent of an ancient seal tempered by the fons honorum of a family, with all the additional benefits of a smart contract: one of a kind, incorruptible, non-duplicable or falsifiable, verifiable anywhere and anytime, impossible to lose and stored in the memory of distributed registers, like in a cyber-safebox.

Using the platform is simple and intuitive. Just connect to the website https://www.icoc-cert.com and to submit a request, you have to follow these steps:

  • Complete the Registration process (https://www.icoc-cert.com/signup);
  • Access to your personal area (Log In);
  • Upload your ID doc;
  • Select your certification from the homepage;
  • Follow the guided procedure;
  • Wait for the International Commission for Orders of Chivalry in-depth verification;
  • Download the mobile App and scan the QR code to verify the validity of your certificate.

It should also be remembered that the International Commission for Orders of Chivalry provides its services free of charge and that the costs applied are exclusively for the technical service. Moreover, Artvise, the technology partner, will donate large part of the proceeds to charity.

In conclusion, the blockchain technology may be used as a final tool to give unalterable authenticity and validity to the files formed, ensuring greater efficiency.
